CryoSat-2 is a European Space Agency (ESA) Earth Explorer mission (replacing CryoSat-1) designed to measure polar sea ice thickness and monitor changes in ice sheets. The CryoSat-2 satellite carries a Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) Interferometric Radar Altimeter (SIRAL), which is designed for ice on both land and sea, and a Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) instrument, but no radiometer.
