Sentinel-6 is a collaborative Copernicus mission, implemented and co-funded by the European Commission, the European Spatial Agency (ESA), the European Spatial Agency (ESA), the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and the USA, through NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Sentinel-6 mission consists of two identical satellites that are planned to be launched sequentially five years apart.
Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, which is a radar altimeter satellite that continues the JASON satellite series, was launched on November 21, 2020.
